about me.

It's so nice to meet you!

My name is Kristen and I am a wife and mother who loves to knit and write. I am a stay-at-home mother to a little boy and this blog contains stories of my crafting mixed with a little bit of life and my journey to a creative home.

I learned to knit when I was a teenager. I have a great aunt who crochets and created a tradition of crocheting a stocking for each new baby that came into the family. My sister and I still use our stockings and more stockings have been sent for our husband and each child we have. I loved watching her craft when I was younger and decided one day that I wanted to learn to knit. I wasn't too interested in crocheting but I knew that two sticks had to be better than one. Thus, my journey as a knitter began...I learned and then forgot about it.

I didn't understand the benefits of knitting until I was living away from home and looking for something that could help me not be so homesick. When I was 19, I picked up the needles again and knit a couple of scarves for myself. After I got married, at 25, I needed something to keep my attention while my husband watched sports. I was also working full-time and trying to finish my undergraduate degree so my stress-level was sky high. See a pattern? I decided to knit a cabled, thick, looooong scarf for my 6'3" husband. Little did I know that he didn't wear scarves....

This time this knitting bug stuck and I've been knitting, really knitting, since then.

Now that I am at home full-time, I have this desire to turn my home into a place where creativity is encouraged. I hope you'll join me on this journey. And please, introduce yourself!
