But seek first...

My mother-in-law is coming back to the states to raise support for her mission work in Lesotho, South Africa. She planned it perfectly because she will be here when Xander turns two. It is such a blessing that she will be able to be with us for a month or so but I needed to do some rearranging and reorganizing to make sure she had a place to sleep! 

As I was organizing the den that we have (her room) I came across our bills folder. I  suddenly had this realization ( and panic) that  we have very little money right now. The beginning of the month is always a little tight for us but now that I don't have a paycheck, its even tighter.  Not long after I started panicking did Sam text me to see how our day was going. And when I told him what was going on, he simply replies, "It will be okay :)".  Yes, we balance each other out and he is always the voice of reason. 

I sat down to read my daily YouVersion devotionals and saw this verse as today's verse. 

     But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. (Matthew 6:33 HCSB)

Seek His kingdom first and all these things will be provided. So, it's time to take control of my panic and know that He knows what bills need to be paid. He knows that I'm freaking out a bit and He is calming my fears by telling me to seek Him first. 

 

I know that many of us are in similar places. We realize that we are short somewhere, maybe in our finances or maybe other areas but He is greater than all that. So let's sit still and breathe in His presence and know that He's got us exactly where He wants us.
