its been a while since i've written an FO post but i promise some things have been coming off the needles but..you read that right. the third barley hat is complete! this one was knit up for my hubby in Cakewalk Yarns on the Spring base in the bugaboo colorway. Sadly, Cakewalk Yarns is currently not dying, but i'm sure you can find some of her stuff in destash on ravelry. well....maybe. she is quite an awesome dyer and i think people might be crazy to destash her yarns ;). my hubby has worn this since the minute it came off the needles. i actually had to steal it to get it washed and blocked just a few days ago. i finished the hat a week of so before thanksgiving.
i just love the simple garter stitch panel. it makes handdyed yarns really pop!
project notes:
Pattern:
Barley
Designer:
tin can knits
Yarn: Cakewalk Yarns Spring in Bugaboo
Modifications: Since the yarn was a dk and the pattern calls for worsted, I casted on for the adult large on US 7. the body of the hat was knit on US 9. I added an additional inch to the body before the crown decreases and didn't start the second round of decreases until I had an inch or so of decreases done (as opposed to a few rows per the pattern).
